Clop  Facilitators

Coordinator

CLOP is important to me because of its ability to touch so many students in such a short period of time. The bonds that are created during these three days go unmatched, and these students truly begin to grasp the reality that their are no limitations to the height of their achievements. The College Link Outreach Program instills into these high schoolers that they are all capable individuals, and that their adversities will never define them or their futures.

I believe that CLOP is an essential opportunity for students to gain the tools and confidence necessary to reach their full potential. For the past 3 years, I've seen the impact CLOP has made on everyone involved. In a matter of 3 days, you see such a transformation on the students and their perspective on higher education. As this years CLOP Coordinator, I hope to give our students the experience of a lifetime, and leave knowing that they have an entire support system behind them.

I believe in the power of CLOP because welcoming arms from others can bring the best out of ourselves. I have always been an advocate for higher education and seen it’s positive effects. I believe that higher education can help us first generation students be the first to escape from the cycle of poverty that can be occurring in our communities. It is important to me to give back to a community that I still continue to be a part of because sparking hope in the generation younger than us is the only method to achieve success as a group and as an individual.

I am a strong advocate for higher education, which is why I wanted to be a part of CLOP. As a first-generation student, I know how hard it is to know about the resources available. I truly believe that CLOP can help create in impact in the students' lives and that is why I wanted to be a part of the team.

I can’t wait to see the day where those who thought pursuing higher education wasn’t for them cross the stage and obtain their degree. “It doesn’t matter where you start. It matters where you finish."

CLOP is an excellent program that holds many of the values that I personally have regarding helping marginalized communities attain a collegiate level of education and planting a seed toward a path that will eventually blossom into a fruitful future.

Workshops

CLOP is important to me because it is a way to give back to my community and help provide resources for students like me. I am committed toward making a change in the education system and inspiring underrepresented students to strive for more. After playing a part in CLOP for the past two years as aTeam Leader, and CLOP Coordinator, I realized the impact the program has on the students and on the team. CLOP has allowed me to work for something greater than myself and has been a very humbling and rewarding experience.

Outreach

CLOP is an amazing experience and opportunity for underrepresented students who come from humble backgrounds to feel and see what it’s like to achieve higher education. I chose to do CLOP to be part of an amazing team that can change the lives of high school students who struggle to see much hope for them in the future. I want to help reignite this hope, and help inspire students to keep pushing forward towards their dreams, as well as give them the resources and help necessary to be able to do so. In CLOP we raise a family, one that we keep close and ensure that the students participating know we will be there for them even after the program is over. CLOP is life changing, and I hope to make an impact in the students lives.

CLOP gives students the ability to experience what an institution of higher education looks like. My hope is that this program expands the views of these students and pushes them to challenge what they believe is possible for themselves. Coming from these communities myself, I understand the impact a program like CLOP can have in the lives of students  CLOP makes change, and I’m humbled to be a part of it.

CLOP is a unique and inspirational program that allows students to share their experiences all while uplifting each other. As a first generation student, I needed lots of support and guidance to get a post-secondary education and I am beyond thankful to be a UCSB student. Without the support from my amazing family and high school counselors, I wouldn't be here. I hope to be that mentor that helps our youth reach for the unthinkable.

I chose CLOP because it’s my passion to help students of all backgrounds achieve their goals. Not only does this program support students from my own high school but others schools that are need of the same resources. Seeing the growth in the matter of three days as a team leader last year changed my life. I hope to do the same this year as Entertainment Facilitator!

CLOP has been a cornerstone in Hermanos Unidos’s history and an important part of my development as a student here at UCSB. It continues to fill me with joy to participate in a program so dedicated to helping students across the state, students from communities like ours who deserve representation and a sense of hope. CLOP is an amazing program that only gets better, and I couldn’t be more thankful for another opportunity to participate in it.

CLOP offers opportunities for students that the public education system has failed. We give our students a glimpse of a very reachable for future in higher education with lifelong support systems, and an experience that they will never forget.
